GWM is giving South Africans an attractive option within the SUV market. Previously known as the Hover, the new GWM H5 offers additional comfort features and is a spacious and more affordable alternative for everyday driving and scenic exploration.

GWM’s H5 builds on the legacy of the Hover SUV, one of the brand’s best sellers in South Africa. Its sporty front grille and elegant lines with 17-inch wheels ensure a modern appeal.

Driver and passenger comfort was high on GWM’s priority list during the design phase of the H5. In addition to a spacious interior with ample legroom, plenty of features have been introduced to make the H5 a pleasure to drive.

As far as safety is concerned, the H5 boasts ABS with EBD, airbags and child-seat ISOFIX fixtures. In March 2010, the H5 obtained an Australian ANCAP 4-star rating, its crash score equalling that of leading SUV competitors.

The H5 is powered by the new 2.0 litre GWM diesel engine, the GW4D20, as well as a 2.4 litre 4G69 petrol engine. The H5 2.0 litre diesel, with VGT Turbo, delivers a maximum power output of 110 kW at 4 000 rpm with a maximum torque of 310 Nm at 1 800 to 2 800 rpm. Its 2.4 litre 4G69 petrol counterpart reaches a maximum power output of 100 kW at 5 250 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm at 4 000 rpm. The H5 petrol has a five-speed manual gearbox with a six-speed for the diesel version as well as a 70L fuel tank.

The H5 has a three-year / 100 000 km warranty and two-year 24-hour Roadside Assist service. It is available from GWM dealers across the country
